In Austria there are currently more than 1000 active coronavirus patients. 706 people have died with Covid-19 so far, 16,647 are considered to have recovered. In the past 24 hours, 85 new cases have been reported, most of them in Upper Austria. In the last three days, the number of newly infected persons throughout Austria had exceeded 100 in each case.
The dashboard of the Ministry of Health reported 1012 active patients on Monday morning. 78 people currently have to be treated in hospital for a corona infection, eleven of whom are in intensive care.
In Upper Austria alone 57 newly infected
In Upper Austria, the number of Covid 19 cases increased again: From 5 p.m. on Sunday alone until 8 a.m. on Monday, the number of sick people rose from 393 to 414, and there were 57 newly infected people in the province every 24 hours. The strongest increases were recorded in the districts of Linz-Stadt, Linz-Land and Perg. 2854 persons in Upper Austria are in quarantine.
Compulsory use of masks in official buildings, controls in public places
Slaughterhouses in Upper Austria are now also affected. According to the crisis team, ten employees of three large companies in the districts of Ried/Innkreis, Wels-Land and Braunau and 13 people from the employees’ surroundings have tested positive for the coronavirus – so far 23 cases can be attributed to slaughterhouses. Due to the aggravated situation in Upper Austria, mouth and nose protection must be worn again in all official buildings from Tuesday onwards. Especially in public transport, compulsory masks and distance rules are now also subject to increased controls.
Four federal provinces without new cases
In Vienna, the second most affected province, 21 new infections have been reported since Sunday morning, five in Lower Austria and one each in Salzburg and Styria. In Burgenland, Carinthia, Tyrol and Vorarlberg no new cases have been reported.
Upper Austria with its 414 persons is also in first place among the actively ill, followed by Vienna with 347. 99 persons currently ill are listed in Lower Austria, 59 in Styria, 31 in Salzburg, 26 in Tyrol, 16 in Carinthia, 14 in Burgenland and six in Vorarlberg.
According to the Ministry of Health, there are 18,365 positive test results in Austria so far. 706 people have died after infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
